Women’s Spring 2012 Fashion Color Report

By The Pulse of Fashion

For spring 2012 designers are inspired by diverse influences, showcasing a range of styles and lifestyles, from free and playful and light and breezy, to contemporary classics. Colors likewise reflect these differing moods, encapsulating vivid brights, soft muted tones and fun-loving pastels.

“Consumers look to spring for renewed energy, optimism and the promise of a brighter day,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “They have learned how color can help them alter a mood and provide the vitality and enthusiasm that enables them to experiment with new looks and color combinations.”

Provocative Tangerine Tango, an enticing juicy orange, is a vivacious and appealing refresher to enliven anyone’s outlook this spring. Providing a jolt of energy, Solar Power radiates warmth and cheer.

Fanciful Bellflower, a distinct ornamental purple, exudes uniqueness and creativity. Scintillating and sexy, Cabaret is a sensual and intense rosy-red — an excellent choice for summer clothing and cosmetics.

Sodalite Blue, a classic maritime hue, brings order and calmness to mind. Like an anchor to a ship, this dependable shade works with every color in the palette. Cockatoo, a tactile blue-green, is sure to make your spirits soar. This unusual hue adds a whimsical touch to the palette and will surely make a statement this spring.

Margarita, a piquant yellow-green, lifts spirits with its refreshing and stimulating glow. Reminiscent of a blossoming garden on an early spring morning, fragrant Sweet Lilac evokes the fresh scents of summer. This delicate pinkish lilac adds a touch of romance to any wardrobe.

Natural versatile neutrals add practicality to this season’s brights. Driftwood, an adaptable blend of beige and gray with a slightly weathered feel, and Starfish, a perfect warm summer neutral, complement all colors featured in this season’s top 10.

For an ultra-bold vibrant look this spring, try mixing Bellflower with Tangerine Tango and Cabaret. Combine Margarita with Sweet Lilac and Cockatoo for a subtle alternative, or combine Margarita with Sweet Lilac and Driftwood for a more practical variation. Solar Power is best juxtaposed with Sodalite Blue. For a safer bet, add a natural neutral like Starfish to the mix.

What Trends will Jewelers in Fort Lauderdale See in 2012

The Pulse of Fashion
With the new year comes new jewelry trends! A fresh start, so to speak. Sometimes we see pieces that made a whisper in one year, really make a statement the following year. Then we always take into consideration outside factors that influence trends. Such as color, fashion, and the celebrities that wear them.

So what are the Jewelers in Fort Lauderdale seeing?

Color, color, color. The Pantone Color Institute labeled Tangerine Tango as the color of 2012. Pantone comes up with their color of the year by researching the entertainment, fashion, textile, and art industries. What does this mean for jewelers and jewelry lovers? It means stones in carnelian, citrine, fire opal, and more.

If Tangerine Tango wasn’t making enough of a statement reach for the chunky pieces in 2012. Huge cuffs, large necklaces, and long dangling earrings. We have a feeling statement pieces will never go out of style!

Pendents and personal items are up next. Mix and match these pieces with charms to show your personality. Interchangeable pieces that allow for more variety are also an option in 2012.

Large drop earrings light up Emmys red carpet

By “The Pulse of Fashion”
The 63rd Emmy Awards on Sunday gave celebrities another occasion to show off their red carpet jewels, and most chose to accessorize with big, drop earrings and large, sometimes colorful cocktail rings.

“Big earrings were the call of the evening,” Michael O’Connor, jewelry style expert and celebrity stylist, says. “Jewelry is becoming larger in proposition, to keep up with ornamentation on gowns, and we saw that at the Emmys.”

Helena Krodel, director of media and special events at the Jewelry Information Center, said the red and black dresses worn on the red carpet gave celebrities solid palettes to work with for their jewelry.

“Tear-drop shaped earrings were big because people tend to wear fabulous, but not over-the-top, dresses to the awards,” she said. “A lot of the jewelry was stand-out.”

American Idol’s Paula Abdul (below) wore sapphire cabochon earrings with 484 diamonds ($68,500).

The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik (below) donned 18-karat white gold and diamond earrings ($26,400).

Dancing with the Stars co-host Brooke Burke accessorized with a 72-carat rough diamond ring (below) in 18-karat white gold with micro pavé diamond accents ($180,000).

Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara (below) wore 18-karat white and rose gold diamonds earrings ($12,800) to an Emmy nominee reception, held Sept. 16 in Hollywood.

Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba chose a Diamond Iceberg ring (below, $18,000).

Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson sparkled in black and white diamond earrings with blue topaz (below, $8,275).

Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland wore blackened pink sapphire and tourmaline cocktail ring (below, $14,500) to a pre-Emmys party on Sept. 16 in Hollywood.

Modern Family’s Julie Bowen accessorized with ear-shaped black and white diamond and platinum earrings (below, $50,000).

Gwyneth Paltrow, who appears on Glee, wore Neil Lane’s large emerald cut 7-carat black diamond and platinum drop earrings (below, $50,000).

“The interesting thing is that in years past, people got the big look by stacking,” O’Connor said, “but it seems like people have stopped doing that.”
